What does “WTB” mean?
Want To Buy.
WTB, explained
WTB stands for Want To Buy. It is how a dealer or collector announces that they are looking for a specific watch, and it is one of the most common posts in dealer groups. A good WTB post names the exact reference, the preferred year range, condition and whether a full set is required, so other dealers can quickly check their stock or their contacts.
For dealers, WTB posts are useful demand signals. When the same reference keeps appearing in WTB posts, it tells you what is moving right now and what you might want to source. It also matters to be precise: a buyer who writes only “WTB Daytona” will get a flood of offers that do not fit, while one who specifies the reference, dial colour and set saves everyone time. Many buyers also mention whether they are buying for stock or for a waiting client, which affects how quickly they can commit.
An example: “WTB: Patek Philippe Aquanaut 5167A, 2020 or newer, full set, no polish. Client waiting, can pay quickly.”
