What does “FS” mean?
For Sale.
FS, explained
FS stands for For Sale. It is the shortest way to flag that a watch is available, and you see it at the start of posts in dealer chat groups, forum sales corners and social media threads, usually followed by the brand, model and reference. It simply tells the reader that the post is an offer to sell, not a question or a show-and-tell.
On its own, FS says nothing about whether the seller will consider a swap, so most dealers read it as cash (or bank transfer) only. If you want to offer a watch in part exchange, it is polite to ask first rather than assume. A good FS post still needs the essentials that serious buyers check: condition, what is included (box, papers, links), the date on the warranty card, where the watch is located and how shipping works. Posts that only say FS with a photo tend to generate a lot of questions before anyone commits.
A typical post might read: “FS: Rolex Submariner Date 126610LN, 2023 card, full set, unworn with stickers, located in London, insured shipping worldwide.”
