What does “NTQ” mean?

Need To Quote (buyer requesting prices).

NTQ, explained

NTQ is used in some dealer groups to mean Need To Quote: the person posting wants sellers to send them prices for a particular watch rather than announcing a fixed requirement. It is less widespread than WTB or ISO, and usage can vary between groups, so if you are unsure what a contact means by it, it is worth asking.

In practice, an NTQ post often comes from a dealer gathering numbers for a client or comparing the market before committing. Sellers who reply should quote clearly: the exact reference, year on the card, condition, what is included and where the watch is located, and whether the quote is firm or subject to the watch still being available. Vague quotes cause confusion later, especially when several dealers respond at once and the buyer is comparing like with like.

A typical message might read: “NTQ: Rolex GMT-Master II 126710BLNR, 2024 card, full set, unworn. Please send best price and location.”
