The short answer
The International Watch & Jewelry Guild (IWJG) is a members-only trade guild founded in 1988 that runs wholesale watch shows in cities like Miami, Las Vegas and New York, plus an app it calls an online watch fair. Membership is $300 a year and needs two sponsoring members. Soda is a trade-only platform where verified dealers buy, sell, trade and auction every day, with binding deals and verified payment details.
Key takeaways
- IWJG is a guild built around in-person, members-only shows, with an app on the side.
- As listed in October 2026: $300 a year membership, two sponsors required, show badges and tables paid per show.
- Soda is a trading platform that's open every day, built around the deal itself.
- Binding Mark as Sold, binding offers and live auctions with real-name bidders.
- Use both: meet people at the shows, trade with them on Soda the other 360 days of the year.

Here's my verdict up front. IWJG is a guild, and its heart is the trade show: a room full of dealers, watches on tables, deals done face to face. I have a lot of respect for that. Soda is something different: a trading platform for verified dealers that's open every day of the year. If you want to see the trade in person a few days a year, IWJG sells that. If you want to buy, sell and trade with verified dealers every day, with every deal binding and on the record, that's what I built.
I sold watches for years before building Soda, and I'm still in many paid dealer groups. I built it because between the shows, the trade runs on group chats, screenshots and trust that can't be checked. This comparison uses only what IWJG publishes about itself, as of October 2026. For the bigger picture, see how watch dealer platforms compare.
What IWJG is
The International Watch & Jewelry Guild was founded in 1988 by Burley Bullock and says it has more than 8,900 members in 77 countries.[1] Its shows are wholesale only and members only: "The public may not attend."[1]
Membership, as listed on its site in October 2026:[2]
- General membership is $300 a year.
- Every member needs two active members as sponsors. Without sponsors, there's an extra $100 fee, you must provide five vendor references, and "membership is not guaranteed."
- Reference checks and any credit or background check are "at the IWJG's discretion."
- Members get access to the IWJG Marketplace, a newsletter and an online watch price list.
Shows run on a Monday and Tuesday, 9am to 6pm. The calendar lists Miami (November 2026), then Miami, Las Vegas and New York (the TWA Hotel at JFK) through 2027.[3] A buyer badge is $280 prepaid or $330 at the door, and anyone selling without a table needs a $350 trader's badge.[4] Tables run $460 to $945 prepaid.[5]
The app, called IWJG Watch Platform, is free on the App Store. It describes itself as "the largest online watch fair built for YOU" and says it is "strictly for vetted, honourable and respectable wholesalers." Its latest update added a market price list. As of October 2026 it has too few ratings for the App Store to show a score.[6] IWJG has also taken its show online before: in 2020 it partnered with eBay on a virtual trade show.[7]
We couldn't find a published feature list for the app on IWJG's public website as of October 2026, so this comparison focuses on what is published: the membership and the shows.
Why I built Soda differently
Shows are great for relationships. You shake hands, you see the watch, you meet the dealer behind the phone number. But a show is two days. The other 360 days, the same dealers go back to WhatsApp, screenshots and "is this still available?"
I didn't want to build a better show. I wanted to build the place where the trade happens in between, with the rules built in. A platform, not a group chat.

The trade doesn't stop between shows
A show is the best two days of the month for meeting people. But your client wants that Daytona on a Thursday in October, not at the next show.
On Soda, every verified dealer's public listings and auctions sit in one marketplace, searchable by reference in any format, nickname, typo or dealer. And when the watch isn't there yet, a Looking For request alerts you the moment a verified dealer lists a match, by app, email or text. The trade floor never closes.
A handshake you can see
At a show, a deal is a handshake at the table, and that works because you're both standing there. Online, a "sold" in a chat can disappear the moment a better price shows up.
Getting in: sponsors vs verification
IWJG asks for two sponsoring members, or five vendor references, and leaves the checks to its discretion.[2] That's a sensible model for a guild: your peers vouch for you.
On Soda, our team verifies every business before it can trade: ID, a selfie holding the ID and business documents. Then the trust keeps building in public. Every profile shows the verification date, completed deals, completion rate, ratings, vouches and strikes. You don't have to know someone who knows someone. You can check.
Payment details, out of the chat
Once a deal is agreed, how you get paid matters most, and it's where dealers lose the most money when details get swapped.
On Soda, both sides see each other's secure, verified payment details only inside an agreed deal page. Any change has to be confirmed by the owner by email or text, and everyone with an open deal is notified. We never touch your money: you pay each other the way you always have, wire or crypto.
What it costs
Using IWJG's listed prices, a member who attends four shows a year with a prepaid buyer badge pays $300 + 4 × $280 = $1,420 a year in membership and badges, before flights and hotels. That's my own arithmetic from their pages.[2][4]
Soda is one subscription: Solo is $80 USD a month, and Team adds employee seats and publishing to your own retail channels. No commissions, no initiation fee, no per-deal fees.
Who Soda is for
Soda is trade-only, for verified watch businesses that buy, sell and trade with other dealers and want the whole job in one tab: marketplace, auctions, Looking For, inventory, invoices in 5 seconds and deal records. If you love the shows, keep going. Read our guide to watch trade shows for dealers and how to carry yourself at one. Then keep the relationships alive on a platform the rest of the year.

Questions dealers ask
Is IWJG membership worth it?
If in-person wholesale shows are part of how you buy and sell, IWJG membership is how you get in: its shows are members-only and closed to the public. If you want to trade with verified dealers every day, with binding deals and records, you'll want a trading platform as well.
How much does IWJG cost?
As listed on IWJG's website in October 2026, general membership is $300 a year. A buyer badge for a show is $280 prepaid or $330 at the door, selling without a table needs a $350 trader's badge, and tables run from $460 to $945 prepaid.
What is the best IWJG alternative for watch dealers?
If you're looking for a way to trade with other dealers between shows, look for a trade-only platform that verifies every business, shows real names, makes claims and offers binding, keeps payment details out of chats and records every deal. That's what Soda was built for.
Can I use IWJG and Soda together?
Yes. Plenty of dealers go to shows for the relationships and the chance to see watches in hand. Soda is where you can keep trading with those dealers, and every other verified dealer, the rest of the year.
