The short answer
Chat Watches lets a dealer create and own a chat, invite other dealers and run auctions, WTB and WTS posts inside it. Soda takes a different route: one trade-only marketplace where every verified business's public listings and auctions sit together, with real names, binding Mark as Sold and offers, deal pages with verified payment details, invoices and price history from real deals. No commissions on either.
Key takeaways
- Chat Watches is built around chats that a dealer creates, owns and invites others into.
- Soda is one marketplace: every verified dealer's public listings in one place and one search bar.
- As of October 2026, Chat Watches lists 'Verified Dealer Groups' as coming soon; on Soda, nobody trades before our team has verified them.
- On Soda, a claim is binding: Mark as Sold, offers and trade offers commit both sides.
- Neither platform takes a fee on your sales.

Chat Watches and Soda start from the same frustration: the watch trade runs on WhatsApp and Facebook groups that were never built for it. Where we differ is the answer. Chat Watches rebuilds the group chat with better tools. I built Soda so dealers wouldn't need the group chat at all.
That's the whole comparison in one line. The rest of this page explains what it means for your day, with Chat Watches' facts taken from its own website as of October 2026. For the wider field, see our watch dealer platform comparison.
What Chat Watches is
Chat Watches, based in Atlanta, describes itself as "The Complete Tool to Auction, Buy, Sell & Chat Watches". Its pitch is to "recreate your favorite WhatsApp & Facebook chats" with watch-specific tools, and it says it was built by veteran watch dealers.[1]
How it works, in its own three steps: create and own your chat (with your own rules, description and title), invite your fellow dealers with a share link, then run auctions, WTB and WTS posts inside it.[1] Around that it lists live auctions, real-time chats in structured groups, online storefronts that sync with your inventory, inventory management with up to 16 HD photos and custom fields, order management, and analytics such as inventory views and chat shares.[1]
On price, as listed on its site in October 2026: a free plan ($0/month, up to 25 inventory items), Starter (100 items) and Pro (unlimited inventory, 5 team members) with free trials, and Enterprise on quote. The Starter and Pro prices weren't displayed on the page when we checked.[2] Chat Watches says there are "No transaction fees", and its pricing page says there is no selling fee on auction listings.[2]
Why I built Soda differently
I sold watches for years before building Soda, and I'm still in many paid dealer groups. What I learned is that the problem isn't only the tools inside a group. It's that there are so many groups. The watch you need gets posted in a chat you're not in, so you join another one, and another.
A better chat room is still a room. So instead of giving every dealer their own room, I built one floor: a single marketplace where every verified dealer's public listings and auctions sit together, run by a team that doesn't trade on it. A platform, not a group chat.

One marketplace instead of many chats
On Chat Watches, the chat is the unit: you create one, you own it, you invite people in.[1] That's a real improvement on a WhatsApp group if you run a community. But as a buyer, you still need to be in the right chat at the right time.
On Soda, there's nothing to join except the platform. Every verified dealer's public listings and auctions are in one marketplace, and one search bar understands references typed any way, dealer nicknames, small typos, dealers and accessories. If the watch isn't there yet, post a Looking For request with the set, condition, card year and budget you need, and you're alerted in the app and by email when a match is listed. If a dealer already has it in private inventory, they see the match too.
Verification that's already in place
Chat Watches' site talks about verified dealers, and its footer lists "Verified Dealer Groups" as "Coming Soon" as of October 2026.[1]
On Soda, verification is the door, not a feature for later. Nobody trades until our team has manually reviewed their ID, a selfie holding that ID and business documents. Every dealer then appears with their real full name, company, rank and flag, and every profile shows the verification date, completed deals, completion rate, ratings, vouches and strikes. That's a track record you can check before you send a watch or a wire.
A claim that means something
In a chat, "I'll take it" is a message. On Soda, it's a commitment. A buyer taps Mark as Sold to commit at the listed price: the first confirmed buyer wins, others wait in a backup queue, and the seller confirms within 24 hours. Offers are binding for the window you choose (24 hours, 48 hours or 7 days), and trade offers let you put watches on both sides with cash either way, also binding, with cash before shipping. Backing out has a cost: a strike that other dealers can see.
Auctions work the same way. Chat Watches lists live auctions with bid tracking.[1] On Soda, live auctions have verified, real-name bidders, max bids, tiered increments and a 60-second soft close, so sniping doesn't decide the price. Bids are binding, and there are no deposits.
What happens after "deal"
The moment a deal is agreed is when most money is lost in this trade: payment details sent by message, changed by message, faked by message. On Soda, both sides see each other's secure, verified payment details only inside the agreed deal. Any change has to be confirmed by the owner by email or text, and counterparties are notified. We never touch your money.
Every deal has its own page: shipping terms both sides confirm, tracking, packing photos and video, documents, and invoices in 5 seconds in your own style. Each completed deal also feeds price history: sold comps from real deals on the platform, no third-party data.
Fees, plans and the free tier
Both platforms say they don't take a cut of your sales.[2] On Soda, there are two plans with the same features: Solo from $80 USD a month and Team from $1,500 USD a year, which adds employee seats and publishing to your own Shopify store, eBay US and a once-a-day Chrono24 feed. No commissions. No initiation fee. Details on our pricing page.
Who Soda is for
Soda is trade-only. It's for verified watch businesses that buy from and sell to other dealers and want one place to do it. If you mainly want to run your own community chat and invite your own circle, a chat-first tool fits that job. If you want to stop juggling chats and trade with dealers whose identity and record you can see, that's what we built.
Still posting in groups while you switch? Quick Copy turns any watch in your inventory into a formatted WhatsApp or Facebook post in two clicks. More on that world in why WhatsApp and Facebook groups are failing watch dealers.
The bottom line
Chat Watches improves the group chat. Soda replaces it with one verified marketplace, binding claims and offers, deal pages with verified payment details, invoices and real price history, with no commissions. Both are honest answers to the same problem; they're just different answers.
Step out of the chat and onto the floor
Built by watch dealers who've lived every one of these headaches, Soda gives every verified dealer the same marketplace, the same rules and the same visible record. See how we compare across the market, browse every feature, then apply for access or book a demo and see the floor for yourself.
Questions dealers ask
Is Chat Watches worth it?
It depends on what you want. If you want your own branded dealer chat with auctions and a storefront, Chat Watches is built for that, and it has a free plan as listed on its site. If you want one marketplace of verified dealers with binding deals and verified payment details, Soda is built for that.
Does Chat Watches charge transaction fees?
Chat Watches says it has no transaction fees, and its pricing page says there is no selling fee on auction listings, as of October 2026. Soda doesn't charge commissions either: it's a flat subscription with no initiation fee.
What is the best Chat Watches alternative for watch dealers?
If your goal is to stop depending on group chats altogether, look for a platform where every verified dealer is in one marketplace, claims are binding and payment details are verified inside the deal. That's what Soda does, for verified businesses only.
How much does Chat Watches cost?
As listed on its pricing page in October 2026: a free plan with up to 25 inventory items, Starter and Pro plans whose prices weren't shown on the page when we checked, and Enterprise on quote. Check their site for current prices.
