What does “Sprite” mean?

GMT-Master II, green/black, left-hand crown.

Sprite, explained

'Sprite' is the nickname for the Rolex GMT-Master II 126720VTNR, introduced in 2022, whose green and black ceramic bezel recalls the colours of the lemon-lime soft drink. It is unusual for Rolex because the crown and the date window sit on the left side of the case, the date at 9 o'clock, which is why it is also called the left-handed or 'destro' GMT. It uses caliber 3285 and is made with both Oyster and Jubilee bracelets.

Rolex rarely makes left-handed watches, so the Sprite attracts both left-handed wearers who wear a watch on the right wrist and collectors who want something different from the usual GMT. Dealers should state the bracelet, the card date and whether the watch is unworn. The 'VTNR' suffix describes the bezel colours (green and black); don't mix it up with the green-bezel Submariners, which carry the 'LV' suffix.

Example: 'Sprite 126720VTNR on Oyster, 2024 card, full set, worn a handful of times.'
