Rolex reference codes
What does “LN” mean?
Black bezel.
LN, explained
LN is the Rolex reference suffix for a black bezel, from the French 'lunette noire'. Rolex adds letter codes after the reference number to describe the bezel colour or material, so the suffix tells you exactly which configuration you are dealing with. Common examples include the Submariner Date 126610LN, the GMT-Master II 116710LN and the Cosmograph Daytona 116500LN and 126500LN, all with black ceramic bezels.
The suffix matters because one base reference can come in several bezel versions with very different demand and value: the 126610LN and 126610LV, for example, are the same watch apart from the bezel. Dealers include the suffix in listings to avoid misunderstandings, and it appears with the reference on the warranty card. Not every black-bezel Rolex carries LN, though: the no-date Submariner 124060 has a black bezel but no suffix, so don't rely on the letters alone to identify a watch.
Example: '126610LN, black bezel, 2024 card, unworn.'
