Rolex reference codes

What does “BLNR” mean?

Blue/black bezel ("Batman").

BLNR, explained

BLNR is the Rolex suffix for a blue and black bezel, from the French 'bleu noir', the combination nicknamed 'Batman'. It is used on the GMT-Master II 116710BLNR, introduced in 2013 on an Oyster bracelet as Rolex's first two-colour ceramic bezel, and on its successor the 126710BLNR from 2019, first on a Jubilee bracelet and from 2021 on either Jubilee or Oyster.

Because the 126710BLNR uses the same reference for both bracelets, listings should state which one is fitted, and some dealers call the Jubilee version 'Batgirl'. The older 116710BLNR has caliber 3186 and the newer 126710BLNR caliber 3285, which has a longer power reserve of about 70 hours, a difference buyers notice when comparing the two. As with other ceramic bezels, check for chips, and make sure the reference on the card matches the watch. Don't confuse BLNR with the newer GRNR, which has grey rather than blue.

Example: '116710BLNR, 2017, full set, Oyster bracelet, light wear.'
