Watch Only, explained
'Watch only', sometimes called 'naked', means just the watch on its bracelet or strap, with no box, papers, tags or extras. It is common with older watches, watches that have changed hands several times, and pieces whose owners lost or separated the accessories along the way.
A watch-only piece is usually the least expensive way to buy a given reference, which makes it a good fit for buyers who want to wear the watch rather than collect it. The trade-off is less supporting evidence: without papers, authentication rests entirely on the watch itself, so a careful inspection by someone who knows the reference is important. Some sellers include a service record, receipt or appraisal instead, which helps. When pricing, dealers compare against other watch-only sales rather than full sets.
Example: 'Watch only, full links, recently serviced with receipt.'
