What does “Under Warranty” mean?
Still within the manufacturer's warranty period.
Under Warranty, explained
'Under warranty' means the watch is still within the manufacturer's warranty period, so the brand will repair defects in materials or workmanship at no charge. Warranty length varies by brand and era; Rolex, for example, has given a five-year international warranty on new watches since 2015, counted from the date on the warranty card.
Remaining warranty adds to a watch's appeal and value, especially for recent pieces, because it reduces the buyer's risk. To claim it, the watch generally needs its dated warranty card, and manufacturer warranties don't cover accidental damage, normal wear, or problems caused by work done outside the brand's network. Some dealers also offer their own warranty, which is separate from the manufacturer's and should be described as such. In a listing, say when the manufacturer's warranty runs until.
Example: 'Under manufacturer warranty until 2028, dated card included.'
