Links Short, explained
Links short describes how many bracelet links are missing compared with the full bracelet the watch was sold with. Dealers often write it as “-2 links” or “2 links short”. When a bracelet has been sized for a smaller wrist and the removed links have been lost, the bracelet is short of its full length.
This matters because a buyer with a larger wrist may not be able to wear the watch without finding the missing links, and genuine links for some bracelets are hard to source and can be costly. That is why missing links reduce value, and why buyers ask about them before agreeing a price. It also helps to state the current wrist size the bracelet fits and whether the clasp has an extension that can add a little extra length. A listing that says “all links” or “full links” means nothing is missing.
Typical usage: “Datejust 36, Jubilee bracelet, 2 links short, currently fits a 17 cm wrist, clasp extension included.” A buyer might then ask whether the seller can source the missing links.
