About Vacheron Constantin

Vacheron Constantin was founded in Geneva in 1755, when Jean-Marc Vacheron took on his first apprentice, and it is generally regarded as the oldest watch manufacture in continuous operation. François Constantin joined the family business in 1819, which gave the house its double name, and its emblem is the Maltese cross.

The catalog covers the Overseas sports collection, the Patrimony and Traditionnelle dress and complication lines, the Fiftysix, the Historiques reissues such as the 222, American 1921 and Cornes de Vache, the Malte, the Quai de l'Ile, the Égérie for women, the Métiers d'Art pieces and the bespoke Les Cabinotiers department. Many movements carry the Hallmark of Geneva, the Poinçon de Genève.

Vacheron reference numbers combine a model number with a letter for the collection and a code for the case metal and dial, for example 4500V/110A-B128, where A stands for steel, R for pink gold, G for white gold and J for yellow gold. Dealers quote the full reference, check the certificate and box and, on the Overseas, whether the extra straps that came with the watch are present.
