About the Carrera family

The Carrera was introduced in 1963 by Jack Heuer as a racing chronograph with a clean dial that was easy to read at speed. It was named after the Carrera Panamericana road race in Mexico, and early models used manual-wind Valjoux movements.

The modern Carrera covers three-hand automatics with Caliber 5 and 7, chronographs with Caliber 16, 17 and the in-house Heuer 01 and Heuer 02, tourbillons and many special editions, in steel, gold, ceramic and carbon. The catalog lists more than five hundred references. Dealers identify a Carrera by its full reference, which records size, caliber and dial, and treat vintage Heuer Carreras as a separate market.
