About the Formula 1 family
The Formula 1 was introduced in 1986 as an affordable, colourful sports watch, the first TAG Heuer collection created after the 1985 merger. Early models had cases in fibreglass with coloured bezels.
The line has since grown to include quartz and automatic models with calibers such as Caliber 5 and Caliber 16, chronographs, steel and two-tone cases and black PVD or DLC finishes. The catalog lists several hundred references. Dealers identify a piece by its full reference and check the bracelet or strap, since these watches trade mainly on condition and completeness.
Catalog facts checked October 2026.
