About Richard Mille

Richard Mille was founded by the Frenchman Richard Mille, who launched the brand in 2001 with Dominique Guenat, whose family company makes the cases and assembles the watches in Les Breuleux, in the Swiss Jura. The first watch, the RM 001 Tourbillon, set the pattern: a curved tonneau case, a skeletonised movement on show and engineering ideas borrowed from motor racing and aviation. Many movements have been developed with Audemars Piguet's specialist workshop in Le Locle, and the brand has also built calibers of its own.

The catalog lists Richard Mille by model number rather than by collection, from early pieces such as the RM 002, RM 005 and RM 010 to athlete models for Rafael Nadal, Bubba Watson and others, motor-sport editions with Ferrari and McLaren, ladies' lines such as the RM 07 and RM 71 and newer in-house models such as the RM 72-01. Cases use materials such as grade 5 titanium, Carbon TPT, Quartz TPT, ceramics and sapphire.

For dealers, the full model name plus the case material identifies the watch, since one model can exist in many materials and limited series. They check the warranty card and box, the edition number on limited pieces, service history with the brand and the condition of the case screws and strap.
