About the Calatrava family

The Calatrava began in 1932 with ref. 96, a plain round watch with a clean dial that became Patek Philippe's model for the classic dress watch. Its name comes from the Calatrava cross, the brand's emblem. Over the decades the line has included small-seconds and centre-seconds models, hobnail Clous de Paris bezels on refs. such as 3919 and 5119, and models with officer's-style hinged casebacks such as ref. 5227.

More recent references include the 6119 of 2021 with a hand-wound caliber 30-255 PS and a hobnail bezel, and textured-dial models such as ref. 5226G. The catalog lists versions in yellow, rose and white gold, platinum and a few in steel. Because Calatrava models look similar, dealers identify them by full reference, case size and dial finish.
