About Patek Philippe

Patek Philippe traces its history to 1839 in Geneva, when Antoni Patek and Franciszek Czapek began making watches together. The French watchmaker Adrien Philippe, inventor of a keyless winding system, joined Patek in 1845, and the firm took the name Patek Philippe & Co. in 1851. Since 1932 it has been owned by the Stern family, which makes it one of the few major Geneva houses still independent.

The catalog covers the main families: the Calatrava dress watches, the Nautilus and Aquanaut sports models, the Complications range (annual calendars, world times, travel times and chronographs), the Grand Complications (perpetual calendars, split-seconds chronographs, minute repeaters), the Gondolo and Golden Ellipse shaped watches, the Twenty~4 ladies' line and the Cubitus of 2024.

Dealers look for the Certificate of Origin and box, and for older pieces often request an Extract from the Archives, which confirms the date of production and sale and the original specification. Service history from the brand matters, as does whether the dial and hands are original. Steel Nautilus and Aquanaut references are the most closely watched part of the market.
