About the Luminor family

The Luminor takes its name from the luminous substance Panerai developed around 1950 to replace Radiomir paint. Its most recognisable feature is the bridge with a lever that locks the crown against the case, improving water resistance, which Panerai patented in the 1950s.

The family includes the Luminor Base, Luminor GMT, chronographs, Luminor 1950 models and many limited editions, with in-house calibers such as the P.3000 and P.6000, in steel, titanium, ceramic, Carbotech and other materials. Dealers quote the PAM number, check the production letter, the original straps and buckle, and the box and papers.
