About the Ingenieur family

The Ingenieur was introduced in 1955 with ref. 666, an automatic watch protected against magnetic fields by a soft-iron inner case. In 1976 Gérald Genta redesigned it as the Ingenieur SL ref. 1832, with an integrated bracelet and a bezel with five recesses.

In 2023 IWC returned to the Genta design with the Ingenieur Automatic 40, ref. IW328901, with caliber 32111 and a grid-patterned dial. The catalog also lists earlier models with calibers such as 80110 and 30110 and ceramic versions. Dealers separate the generations by case design and reference and check the bracelet.
