About the Santos de Cartier family
The Santos was designed in 1904 for the Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont, who wanted to read the time without taking his hands off the controls. Its square case with visible screws on the bezel became the model's signature, and the 1978 steel and gold Santos added the screwed bracelet.
The current Santos de Cartier, relaunched in 2018, has the QuickSwitch system for changing straps and the SmartLink system for sizing the bracelet without tools, and uses calibers such as the 1847 MC, with chronographs and skeleton versions. The catalog also lists the Santos 100 and steel, gold and black ADLC models. Dealers note the size, movement and whether all straps and links are present.
