About the Ballon Bleu de Cartier family

The Ballon Bleu de Cartier was introduced in 2007. Its round, rounded-back case has the winding crown tucked inside a curved guard that extends from the case, topped with a blue cabochon, which gives the watch its name.

It was made in a wide range of sizes, from small quartz models to 42 mm automatics and chronographs, in steel, two-tone, rose gold and white gold, many with guilloché dials and Roman numerals. Automatic versions use calibers such as the 049 and, later, the in-house 1847 MC. Dealers identify a Ballon Bleu by its size, movement and metal, which the reference records, and check the bracelet and the condition of the cabochon.
