About the collection
The Tank was designed by Louis Cartier in 1917, its shape said to have been inspired by the outline of a tank seen from above, with the two side bars, or brancards, running into the lugs. Over the century it has taken many forms: the Tank Louis Cartier of 1922, the curved Tank Cintrée, the Tank Américaine of 1989, the Tank Française of 1996 and the Tank Must of 2021.
The catalog includes many sizes and movements, from quartz and the solar-powered SolarBeat to automatic calibers such as the 1847 MC and hand-wound movements. Dealers identify a Tank by its sub-family, size, metal and movement and check that the strap, buckle or bracelet is original.
