What does “Sealed” mean?
Factory seals intact; never opened.
Also written as: Double sealed
Sealed, explained
Sealed means the watch's packaging still has its factory seals intact, so the box or pouch has not been opened since it left the brand or distributor. Double sealed usually means two layers of seals or wrapping are intact, for example on both an outer box and an inner pouch.
Sealed watches are rare on the secondary market and mainly matter for certain brands and models where buyers want proof that the watch is completely untouched. For most watches, buyers prefer to see the watch itself, which means opening the packaging. A sealed watch therefore asks the buyer to trust the source, so it is mainly traded between parties who know each other or through channels with strong guarantees. Buyers should be aware that seals can be faked, so the seller's reputation matters a great deal.
Typical usage: “Sealed in original packaging, never opened, invoice from authorised dealer available.” Many dealers will offer to open the packaging on a video call so the buyer can see the watch before payment.
