About Zenith

Zenith was founded in 1865 by Georges Favre-Jacot in Le Locle, in the Swiss Jura, where he brought the different stages of watchmaking together under one roof. The company became known for precision, and its movements won many prizes in observatory chronometry competitions.

Its best-known achievement is the El Primero of 1969, one of the first automatic chronograph movements and one that beats at 36,000 vibrations per hour, which allows timing to a tenth of a second. During the quartz crisis a Zenith employee, Charles Vermot, kept the tools and plans needed to make it, and the caliber went on to power chronographs for other brands as well. Zenith has been part of LVMH since 1999.

The catalog covers the Chronomaster family (Sport, Original, Revival, Open and others), the Defy family from the Defy Classic and Skyline to the high-frequency El Primero 21 and the Zero G, the Pilot, the Elite and older lines such as the El Primero, Class and Academy. Zenith references begin with a code for the case material, such as 03 for steel, followed by the case and caliber numbers, so dealers quote them in full and check the box, warranty card and service history.
