About Ulysse Nardin

Ulysse Nardin was founded in 1846 in Le Locle by Ulysse Nardin and built its reputation on marine chronometers, the precision clocks used by navies and merchant fleets for navigation. In the 1980s it returned to prominence with a trilogy of astronomical watches designed by Ludwig Oechslin, and in 2001 the Freak, with no dial, hands or crown, made it one of the first brands to use silicon in an escapement. After a period under Kering, it has been independent again since 2022, together with Girard-Perregaux.

The catalog covers the Marine collection, which carries the chronometer heritage; the Diver sports watches; the Freak and the newer Blast, which represent the brand's experimental side; and the classic Classico.

Ulysse Nardin references combine a model number with codes for case and dial after a slash, so check all parts against the watch and papers. Diver and Marine models are the ones dealers see most often, while Freak and Blast pieces need careful checking of their unusual mechanisms and a service history from the brand.
