About Rolex

Rolex began in London in 1905, when Hans Wilsdorf and Alfred Davis set up a business importing Swiss movements and fitting them into cases. Wilsdorf registered the Rolex name in 1908 and moved the company to Geneva after the First World War. Three early ideas still define the brand: the waterproof Oyster case of 1926, the Perpetual self-winding rotor of 1931 and the Datejust of 1945, the first self-winding wristwatch with a date in a window.

The catalog here covers the Oyster Perpetual family from the plain time-only Oyster Perpetual through the Datejust and Day-Date to the professional models: Submariner, Sea-Dweller, GMT-Master II, Explorer, Explorer II, Cosmograph Daytona, Yacht-Master, Sky-Dweller and the 2025 Land-Dweller, plus older lines such as the Milgauss and Cellini and the Perpetual 1908 dress watch.

For dealers, the details that move a Rolex are the reference, the dial and bezel variant, the year of the warranty card, whether box and card are present and whether the bracelet is complete with all links. Service history matters, as do original parts: a replaced dial, hands or bezel insert changes how a watch is valued, especially on older references. Steel sports models remain the most traded part of the range.
