About Roger Dubuis

Roger Dubuis was founded in Geneva in 1995 by the watchmaker Roger Dubuis and the designer and entrepreneur Carlos Dias. From the start it aimed at high watchmaking, and for many years it built all its movements to the standards of the Geneva Seal, the quality mark of the canton of Geneva. The company has been part of Richemont since 2008.

Today the brand is best known for bold, contemporary watches: skeletonised movements built around a star-shaped bridge, large cases in titanium, carbon and ceramic, and partnerships with car makers. The catalog covers the Excalibur and the open-worked Excalibur Spider, as well as the earlier Hommage, the Monaco-inspired La Monégasque and the Velvet ladies' collection.

Roger Dubuis references begin with RDDB followed by a model code (EX for Excalibur, HO for Hommage, MG for La Monégasque, VE for Velvet) and a number, which makes it easier to check a watch against its papers. With skeleton models, look closely for dust or marks in the open movement, check the rubber straps and the quick-change system, and expect buyers to ask for the full set and service history, ideally from the brand.
