About the Seamaster Diver 300M family

The Seamaster Diver 300M was introduced in 1993. The blue-dial ref. 2531.80 and its quartz and automatic siblings, with skeleton hands, a wave-pattern dial and a helium escape valve at 10 o'clock, became widely known after the James Bond films from 1995.

In 2018 Omega redesigned the watch with a ceramic bezel and dial, laser-engraved waves and Master Chronometer caliber 8800, under refs. 210.30.42.20. The line now includes chronographs, titanium and gold versions and several special editions. Dealers identify the generation by reference and dial, and on 1990s pieces check whether the movement is quartz or automatic and whether the bezel insert is original.
