About the Constellation family

The Constellation was introduced in 1952 as Omega's line of automatic chronometers, with an observatory medallion on the caseback and, on many vintage pieces, a faceted pie-pan dial. In 1982 the Manhattan design brought the four claws, or griffes, on the bezel and the integrated bracelet that define the modern line.

The current generation, from 2019 and 2020, uses Master Chronometer calibers such as the 8800 and 8900, in steel, two-tone and Sedna or Moonshine gold versions, often with Roman numeral bezels. The catalog also lists earlier quartz references. Dealers separate the vintage chronometers from the claw-bezel models first, then identify size, movement and metal from the reference.
