About Louis Moinet
Louis Moinet (1768–1853) was a French watchmaker, painter and teacher, credited with building the first chronograph, his 1816 compteur de tierces. The modern brand bearing his name was founded in 2004 by Jean-Marie Schaller and works from Saint-Blaise, near Neuchâtel.
The brand is known for chronographs and for dials made from meteorite and other rare materials. The catalog lists the Memoris, a chronograph whose chronograph mechanism is placed on the dial, the Tempograph, the Space Revolution, the Moon and Super Moon, the Meteoris, the Magistralis, the Mecanograph, the Spacewalker and the Jules Verne Instrument, in gold, titanium and steel.
Most models are limited or unique, so dealers check the number, the dial material and the papers.
