Daniel Roth

Daniel Roth worked on restoring and recreating Breguet watches before founding his own brand in the Vallée de Joux in the late 1980s. His watches are recognised by the double-ellipse case, known as the Ellipsocurvex. Bulgari bought the brand in 2000, and the name was later retired.

In 2023 La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton revived Daniel Roth with a new tourbillon, followed by the Extra Plat. The catalog lists both eras: the Papillon jumping hour with its butterfly-shaped minute hands, the perpetual calendar, the tourbillon and the Ellipsocurvex models, and the new Extra Plat in gold and steel.

Dealers note whether a watch dates from the original company, the Bulgari years or the revival, as the three are valued differently, and check the papers and service history.
