About Chopard

Chopard was founded in 1860 in Sonvilier in the Swiss Jura by Louis-Ulysse Chopard, who made precise pocket watches. The company later moved to Geneva, and in 1963 it was bought by Karl Scheufele, whose family still owns and runs it. In 1996 the Scheufeles opened Chopard Manufacture in Fleurier, which led to the in-house L.U.C movements and gave the brand real standing in fine watchmaking.

The catalog covers the integrated-bracelet Alpine Eagle, the high-end L.U.C collection, the Mille Miglia driving chronographs, and the two lines built around moving diamonds, Happy Diamonds and Happy Sport.

The Alpine Eagle is the model most dealers see asked for, and buyers check the bracelet and the brushed-and-polished finishing closely. With Happy Diamonds and Happy Sport, make sure every loose diamond is present and moves freely and that the crystal and dial are undamaged. L.U.C pieces often carry a COSC chronometer certificate or the Geneva Seal, so the matching paperwork adds to a sale. As with any family-run house, the full set and service records help.
